ITINERARY

DAY 01: CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS – HUAYRACMACHAY

For this amazing Salkantay Trek, we will pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 a.m. and drive approximately 3 hours to Soraypampa, where your adventure begins. Before starting the hike, we will enjoy a nourishing breakfast surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Our trek begins with a gradual uphill hike lasting about 3 hours until we reach Soyrococha, where we will stop for lunch while enjoying panoramic views of Humantay Mountain (4,120 m / 13,500 ft) and Salkantay Mountain (6,271 m / 20,575 ft).

After lunch, we continue ascending to the Salkantay Pass (4,600 m / 15,090 ft)—the highest point of the trek. Here, we’ll take time for breathtaking photos and an informative explanation from your guide about the significance of this sacred mountain.

Finally, we begin a descent of approximately 3 hours towards our campsite at Huayracmachay (3,800 m / 11,750 ft)—the highest and coldest camp of the entire trek.

Total distance: 16 km
Campsite altitude: 3,800 meters above sea level

DAY 02: HUAYRACMACHAY – CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA – AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN.

After breakfast, we begin our descent towards Chaullay, a journey of approximately 2 hours. From this point, we enter the high jungle, where we’ll observe the lush flora and fauna typical of the region, including coca plantations, coffee crops, and various fruit trees. After trekking for about 5 hours from our campsite, we’ll arrive at La Playa Sahuayaco, where a delicious lunch prepared by our cook awaits.

Following lunch, we’ll board a private transport for a 1-hour ride to the hydroelectric station. From there, we continue with a 2.5-hour hike along the railway line, bordering the mountains of Machu Picchu. Along this scenic route, you’ll enjoy your first glimpses of Inca terraces and constructions.

Upon arrival in the town of Aguas Calientes, we’ll settle into a comfortable hotel. Later, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved dinner in a local restaurant and rest for the night.

DAY 03: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

After an early breakfast, your guide will meet you at your hotel lobby to escort you to the bus stop. A 30-minute scenic ride will take you up to the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu.

Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a private guided tour of approximately 2 hours, exploring the most important areas of this ancient Inca sanctuary: the Main Plaza, the Sun Temple, the Sacred Sundial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and other remarkable sites.
