ITINERARY

DAY 01: CUSCO – KM 82 – HUAYLLABAMBA “INCA TRAIL”

Early in the morning at 06:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you by bus to Km. 82, the official starting point of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Along the way, we will pass through picturesque villages including Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo.

The first stretch of the trek follows the Urubamba River, offering impressive views of Veronica Mountain (5,900 meters). We continue towards the archaeological site of Llactapata, located in the Cusi Chaca River Valley. Finally, we arrive near the village of Wayllabamba (3,000 meters above sea level), where we’ll set up camp for the night.

DAY 02: HUAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA PASS – PACAYMAYU “INCA TRAIL”

After breakfast, we begin our ascent toward the famous Warmiwañusca Pass (4,212 m / 13,819 ft), known as the “Dead Woman’s Pass.” The trail leads us through a beautiful Queñua forest, with breathtaking views of the surrounding Andean landscapes. We’ll pass through Llulluchapampa (3,750 m / 12,303 ft), a typical highland pampa located at the base of the pass.

Upon reaching the summit of Warmiwañusca, the highest point of the entire Inca Trail, you’ll enjoy panoramic views and a sense of achievement. From here, we begin our descent toward the Pacaymayo Valley (3,620 m / 11,876 ft), where our camp will be set for the night. This campsite offers an opportunity to appreciate the impressive Inca Trail stonework.

In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to explore the area, rest, and relax amidst the tranquil mountain surroundings.

DAY 03: PACAYMAYU – RUNKURAKAY – SAYAQMARCA – WIÑAYWAYNA “INCA TRAIL”

After breakfast, we begin what is considered one of the most scenic days of the Inca Trail. Our morning trek leads us uphill to the archaeological site of Runkurakay (3,800 m / 12,467 ft), from where we’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. After exploring the site, we ascend to the Runkurakay Pass before descending towards Sayaqmarca, an impressive Inca site built along a steep mountain ridge.

Continuing our journey, we’ll pass through Phuyupatamarca—known as “The Town Above the Clouds”—and follow an extraordinary section of the original Inca Trail, constructed from white granite and surrounded by the lush vegetation of the cloud forest. Along the way, you’ll witness the incredible harmony between Inca engineering and nature.

We’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch at ChaquiCocha, a serene campsite nestled amidst the mountains.

Our final destination today is the campsite near the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna (2,700 m / 8,858 ft), one of the most beautiful and well-preserved sites on the trail.

This day offers countless photographic opportunities and a deeper appreciation for the Inca Trail’s natural and cultural richness.

DAY 04: WIÑAYWAYNA – INTI PUNKU – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO “INCA TRAIL”

On this final day, we’ll wake up very early at 4:00 a.m., enjoy breakfast, and begin our hike at 5:30 a.m.. We’ll say goodbye to our porter team as they return to Cusco with all the camping equipment.

Our trek continues through the lush cloud forest towards the famous Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where we’ll enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Machu Picchu, bathed in the early morning light—a truly unforgettable sight.

We will arrive at Machu Picchu around 7:00 a.m., where your guide will give you a 2-hour private tour, visiting the most important sectors of the Inca citadel, such as the Main Plaza, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Sundial, and the Temple of the Three Windows.

After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace. Optional hikes to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain are available (additional cost applies).

At the coordinated time, we’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants in town.

In the afternoon, we’ll board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by private transport to your hotel in Cusco, with an estimated arrival around 8:00 p.m. This marks the end of your unforgettable Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
