ITINERARY

Day 1:- Puerto Maldonado - Explorer's Inn

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be greeted and transferred first to our office, then to the port, where you’ll board a motorized canoe for a scenic 3-hour journey along the Tambopata River. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to observe caimans, river turtles, aquatic birds, and other wildlife, while enjoying a refreshing cold snack.

On arrival at the lodge, you’ll be welcomed with a complimentary cocktail. After a short rest, we’ll set out on a gentle hike to a nearby lagoon, continuing on to Sunset Point, where you’ll witness an unforgettable Amazon sunset.

At nightfall, we’ll board the canoe again for an exciting caiman-spotting excursion using flashlights to locate these fascinating nocturnal creatures along the riverbanks. Once back at the lodge, enjoy a delicious dinner accompanied by our expert naturalist guides, who will share insights and answer any questions you may have about the Amazon rainforest and the Tambopata Reserved Zone.

Day 2:- Explorer's Inn - Clay Lick of the Macaws

At dawn, after breakfast, we’ll continue our journey navigating deeper into the pristine Amazon rainforest, traveling 5 to 6 hours along the Tambopata River. This stretch offers excellent opportunities to observe wild fauna in their natural habitat. Along the way, we’ll pass small cascades, unique basaltic rock formations, possible gold panning sites, and sandbanks, where we can stop for a refreshing swim if desired.

A cold snack will be served on board as we travel. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive at the highlight of the day: the impressive macaw clay lick, a towering 200-meter cliff where hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets gather to feed on mineral-rich clay—creating an unforgettable display of color and sound.

We’ll set up camp on a nearby riverbank and enjoy a dinner under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 3:- Clay Lick of the Macaws / Explorer's Inn

Early in the morning, we will return to the macaw clay lick to witness once again the spectacular gathering of hundreds of colorful parrots and macaws feeding on the mineral-rich cliffs—a truly unforgettable natural show.

After this experience, we’ll board the boat for our return journey to the Explorer’s Inn, arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon will be free for rest or optional independent activities. Depending on river conditions, we may take a short detour to explore another clay lick, located along a small tributary of the Tambopata River, offering yet another chance to observe local wildlife.

Day 4:- Explorer's Inn

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will set out on a 5.5-kilometer guided hike to the Cocococha Lagoon, accompanied by a naturalist guide. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to observe exotic plants, insects, butterflies, colorful birds, monkeys, and with a bit of luck, even some of the larger mammals of the region.

Upon arrival at the lagoon, canoes will be available for a short paddle, allowing us to quietly observe the rich and diverse wildlife along the shores.

We will return to the Explorer’s Inn for a late lunch, after which the afternoon will be free for relaxation or optional activities at your own pace.

Day 5:- Explorer's Inn - Puerto Maldonado

At daybreak, after breakfast, we will begin our return journey, enjoying an unforgettable sunrise as we navigate through the Amazon rainforest. Upon arrival in the city of Puerto Maldonado, you will be transferred to the airport in time to board your departure flight.
